This diet really works. The soups are excellent and very easy to make with no exotic ingredients. The plan is simple -- soup for two meals a day for five days, then off for the weekend. No calories to count (although I do anyway). The author gives suggestions to substitute ingredients if there is something you really don't like as well as ideas for snacks/side dishes for your weight. I've lost nine pounds and am starting it over. I love soup so I haven't gotten soup fatigue. At my age (65) my metabolism has slowed considerably and I'm not as active as I was when I was younger, and yet I still lost weight. Salt has a tendency to stick with me causing water weight gain. I have found no-sodium-added diced tomatoes as well as lower-sodium beans. When I have the time, I also make dried beans for the soups, which decreases my salt intake even more.

If you love soup (and who doesn't in the fall and winter), you will love this plan.

P.S. I actually picked up this book for the soup recipes, but after reading the plan I decided to try the diet. It's worth it on both levels -- as a cookbook and as a diet plan.

Not going to do this one I like soup and will try to work more of them into my diet.
I got this yesterday and couldn't stop reading it till the end. I know sounds like its a novel instead of a diet/recipe book, but I could totally relate to her husbands weight loss issues. The recipes sound super easy, tasty and they are made with real foods! No canned soup! Anyone can do this! I will be starting this in September. I would definitely recommend this book.
Enjoyed the book. Always looking for soup recipes. For dieters this book would be invaluable to cut food intake without sacrificing flavour.
I love soup and the recipes alone make the book worthwhile. Just made "Pork and Greens" . Very good!
I bought this book because my weight loss was hitting a plateau and was slowing going back up. So far lost a 1lb a day and my husband just loves to eat the soups. They are very delicious and easy to make. I cant wait to weigh myself the end of the week.
